Personally I prefer it when bands write their own songs but I don’t think that it’s that bad and it doesn’t make the song mean any less to me if they do use songwriters because if I really connect with a song I don’t mind where it came from because I’m so grateful that it’s there.
Sometimes I’ll prefer a cover to an original song but that doesn’t make me feel less of the song because it was originally written by someone else so why would it be any different if the person that wrote the song didn’t actually release a version?
Plus it leaves a place in the music industry for people with writing talent but are unable to sing or play the song well enough.
